From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Yesterday we celebrated Ash Wednesday. It is an important day in our liturgical calendar and marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a time of ‘getting ready’ and ‘preparation’ for something special - Easter. Lent begins with the marking of ashes, a sign to remind us of our essential earthly being, and to live the way Jesus wants. Lent ends after forty days with Jesus’ resurrection at Easter.  Lent is about trying to do good things for others, to rediscover our ‘better person’, and is a time to take action to those ends. Easter and the Resurrection, eternal love and life, are our goal at the end of this Lenten journey, of every Lent, and of our life.

From the Deputy Principal

Dear all,

This is the week that tells us we are already halfway through Term 1. That’s one-eighth of the school year that has already passed.

Learning Conversations are now being prepared.

If your child is a resourced student, with a disability, then the conversations will be of a 30 minute duration and will occur across Weeks 9-11. Janet Fuccio will kindly be making appointments for teachers, parents, and your child to meet with me during school time. Please wait for her to call you. There are a number of times available, but please do not make another time on the online Learning Conversation Booking System.

Thank you to the parents/carers who joined us on the Feast Day of St David of Wales for our Liturgy. Our Term 1 Liturgical Leaders demonstrated great enthusiasm and leadership as they led the Liturgy. Later that day students also enjoyed celebrating with ice blocks.

Sports Day Header.png

Sports Day is approaching quickly and we are busy preparing during our PE lessons! The format of Sports Day has changed this year and the whole school will be participating on Bulkana Oval. The students will walk to the oval from school to be ready for a whole school opening at 9:20am.

The focus and format of our Sports Day is to engage maximum, whole school participation and to be inclusive of all students. Please consider keeping that day free to support our staff and students by volunteering to help your child’s class on the day.

Further information will follow with a note home.

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS

Futsal (Indoor Soccer)

Nominations for the Winter Season of Futsal are now open. Please complete the 'Expression of Interest' form available on the Skoolbag App and also through your class office box.

The return by date is Friday 15 March.

Games are played on Monday evenings at Burragah Recreation Centre. The game time will be determined by the number of teams nominated by schools into the competition. There are no training sessions currently available.

As always, we are grateful for offers of help from parents who are willing to coach/manage a team. The team once formed can only go ahead if someone is willing to take on these roles.

Current players, in the Summer competition, will also need to submit a form so that we will know if they wish to continue playing.

Thank you to our dedicated coaches who have already indicated that they will continue with a team into the Winter Season, much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Ann
