FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carer’s,

The events last week in Christchurch have shocked and saddened us all. I have always considered places of worship, where people gather together with likeminded people to pray, to be a sanctuary of peace in a world that needs more peace. How can praying be wrong or a threat to anybody? We think of and pray for the people of Christchurch and the many families who have lost loved ones. We also pray that calm, sensitive and sensible attitudes characterise the response to these very sad and disturbing events.

The term is rapidly passing with the students very well settled into the school routine. I’m pleased to share that over 90% of our students are at school when the bell rings.  We all know punctuality is important. Lack of punctuality affects learning, not only of the pupil who is late, but it has an impact on all other learners, as the teacher is required to recap on missing learning for those who arrive late. This in turn reduces learning time for the rest of the class. Thank you to the many parents who have made a significant effort to get their children at school on time every day. One day your children will thank you for it! They will also develop good life long habits.

Dear Parents

At Saint David’s Parish School, we aim to create a safe and supportive school community for everyone.

You are an important part of our work to prevent bullying and to respond effectively if it happens. Stopping bullying involves everyone.

We are sending you a pocket card from Bullying. No Way! with tips on what to do if your child talks to you about bullying.  Parents know their children best and know the best way to tailor communication to their needs. Adapt these tips to what works for you and your child.
