From the Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Friends of Saint David’s Parish School,

I hope you had an opportunity to recharge your batteries over the school holiday break. I am well aware that many parents are required to work through this period: however, hopefully the two week break at least gave you the opportunity to have a rest from school associated routines. The school yard was abuzz with conversations last week as students returned and shared their holiday stories.

The holiday break provides the occasion to stop, rest and reflect on the past semester. It is also an opportunity for readjustment, to make necessary changes and set benchmarks for the semester ahead.

From the APRIM

On Wednesday 22 August Week 5, Australian religious songwriter and singer, Andrew Chinn, will be visiting our school to share his songs with our children. Andrew’s songs, such as “These Hands”, “Rainbow” and “An African Blessing” are used in classrooms and liturgies around Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada. Parents are warmly invited to be a part of the celebration of faith and fun. There is no charge for adults. The concert will take place in in the school gymnasium, at 1:45 pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

The Tea Tree Gully Council will be increasing patrols in our immediate area as a result of a number of traffic incidents around our school.

The South Australian Police have also been contacted by local residents and other parents as a result of some concerning behaviour.

For the safety of our students and the comfort of our neighbours please consider the following:

  • Children will not be allowed to leave the sidewalk unless parents have parked appropriately alongside the kerb. Calling them on to the road puts them at risk and delays traffic movement
  • Please do not park in or block any residential driveways around the school or the church driveway in Vizard Road.
  • Please behave thoughtfully and respectfully towards our students, staff, parents and local community members
  • Parents are reminded to consider the welfare of all of our students and families, not just their own.

We ask that our parent community play their part by being patient, following parking and traffic laws, obeying parking signage and reporting dangerous and unlawful behaviour.

Fete day is fast approching!

Last week, a note went home with your child providing details of this exciting event. Don't forget all students can wear their Sports Uniform on the day and remember to pre-purchase tokens for your child (a copy of the information is also attached to this newsletter).

We are looking forward to a great day! If you have any questions, please talk with your child's class teacher.
