School Board

On Tuesday 26 March the school held the AGM. I am pleased to announce and welcome new School Board Members: Adrian Ranieri, Peter Fule and Staff representative Jenny Everuss. I wish to acknowledge and thank the following members who are continuing on the Board: Rebecca Blunt and Chris Deery, along with our Office Bearers - Melissa Harrison (- Chairperson), Winston Pestana (- Deputy Chairperson) and Lil Mader (- Treasurer). Thank you all for your commitment to our school. I also thank our retiring members Matt Crisanti and Linley Bertram for their wisdom and support, your contribution to our community is greatly appreciated.

Sports Day

It was wonderful to see so many families supporting their children at our annual Sports Day. Congratulations to the winning house ‘Haines’ and to all the Sports Captains who led their teams with confidence and enthusiasm. Thank you to Kim Gilchrist, ably supported by Karen Mutton for organising the event. It is always a key event on our calendar and one I know the students always look forward to celebrating.

Final Results: 1st Haines (Red) 7430, 2nd DeMazenod (Gold)7260, 3rd MacKillop (Green) 7090 and 4th Stevens (Blue) 5680.

Building Update

It is wonderful to see a lot of progress being made on our building site. The first pour of concrete has taken place on half the site with the major and final pour scheduled for the 9 April. Please regularly check the Saint David’s PS Construction Project Facebook site. The photos give a realistic idea of the size of the building and the progress that is being made each week.

Winter Uniform

All students are expected to wear their winter uniform during Terms 2 and 3. A two week change over period at the beginning of Term 2 will be allowed due to the unpredictable weather at that time of the year. By Week 3 (May 13), all students are expected to be in full winter uniform. All new winter uniform supplies are to be purchased from our supplier, Devon. We have plenty of quality second hand uniform items available from the MacKillop Room.

Our relationships with your children are very important and avoidable points of tension unhelpful, so please support our uniform policy, which includes suitable haircuts, so your child is not in the position of having to explain why they are in the wrong uniform without a valid reason.

Farewell Fr Leo and Fr Basti

With a great deal of sadness we farewell our Parish Priests Fr Leo Mifsud OMI and Fr Basti Meno OMI.  Fr Leo is moving to the archdiocese of Wollongong and Fr Basti to Mary Immaculate Parish in  Eagle Vale NSW.

Fr Leo has worked very closely with the school over the last two years to build a stronger connection between the school and parish. He will be missed, but we are blessed as a community having benefitted from his pastoral leadership, good humour and friendship. Best wishes Fr Leo and please visit us when you return for a holiday in Adelaide.

Our school will formally thank Fr Leo and Fr Basti next Thursday 11 April at 2.30pm in the gymnasium. All families are very welcome!

Fr James Jeyachandran OMI has been appointed to St David’s Parish effective from 29 April. Fr Reginald Jayamaha OMI has also been appointed and will join Fr James as the assistant to St David’s Parish. We look forward to welcoming back Fr James and meeting Fr Reginald next term.

Finally, as the end of term draws near I wish to thank the parents and caregivers, your support and commitment to our school is truly appreciated. This is the last newsletter for the term and I wish you all a Blessed Easter and look forward to your return next term on Tuesday 30 April.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable break.

Regards

Leanne
