Belonging to our community

There are many ways to feel a sense of belonging to your child’s school community: such as reading all information sent home through class newsletters, the school newsletter, Skoolbag app, and Seesaw to name a few. If you would like to become further involved please become a registered volunteer (see the ladies at the Front Office) or you could become a member of the Parents and Friends (first meeting and all welcome, next Thursday at 7:00pm) or you could become a LAP tutor to form positive relationships with individual children and help them to build social and emotional resilience  and maybe help them with their learning. Please visit our LAP coordinators, Lisa and Cathy or pop by to see me at your convenience.

Meet and Greet Evening

Next week is our “Meet and Greet Evening” from 6:30-7:30pm. This is a valuable time to get your child to introduce you to their teacher, their learning environment and their learning regime. It is also a time to ask questions and qualify the information handed out last week by every class year level regarding the year, including camp. So please come along and feel connected to your child’s class and to the school. Elena Lanzilli and Karen Mutton will be in the Library to chat to anyone who would like information about the NESSY Literacy program and/or Children’s University.

Dropping off and Picking up Zones

I observe frequently that most parents and carers honour safe practices dropping off or picking up children. There are only a handful who are not. However, it only takes one mistake that can lead to devastating results. Every child deserves to be safe coming and leaving school. Please follow speed limits around the school, cross safely at the school crossing on Milne Rd, pull into a park up at Vizard Rd and not expect your child to enter moving traffic (especially reversing cars) to get into a car. The car park on the premises needs to have a degree of patience as leaving after 3:00pm there may be a queue to enter Milne Rd and all need to watch pedestrians vigilantly moving through this area. This is a “park and come in to collect your child” zone not a park and wait for your child to come to the car as this can be quite tenuous navigating this space as cars enter and leave at the busy times for a child. Please do not ask your child to wait at the top of the ramp/stairs entrance to the school, as this is not supervised and staff have a duty of care to all students leaving the school.

Have an enjoyable week ahead.
