Building Update

Great news - all the old pylons have been removed to enable the following steps to occur over the next two weeks:

  • Preparation of the foundation footing
  • Underground plumbing within the footing and building slab
  • Excavation for the new fire main and installation of underground stormwater tanks to capture for reuse
  • Retaining wall works

Parent Handbook

Our 2019 parent handbook can be found on our school website http://www.stdavids.catholic.edu.au/community/parent-resources/parent-handbook This handbook provides a one-stop information spot for all families. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with this information and refer to the booklet throughout the year as needed.

Bullying

I was surprised to hear the presenter at the Staff Cybersafety session draw upon data that now says face to face bullying is on the decline, but sadly, cyberbullying is on the increase. Saint David’s takes all forms of bullying very seriously and if staff are made aware, always act on all reported issues.

Sometimes students and parents are unaware that a lot of follow up of incidents is occurring, but is simply not made public for a range of reasons. If you have a concern, please speak to your child’s teacher in the first instance. If you feel the issue remains unresolved, then please make an appointment to come and see me.

We all want happy, safe, successful students, and the partnership between home and school is the key to making it all happen.

School Uniform

Thank you to the many parents who ensure their children are sent to school with the correct uniform each day. It is great to see our students wearing their uniform with pride.

Baby News

Congratulations to Kim and Ryan Gilchrist who have recently announced they are expecting a baby in August.

Mrs Kathy Zed

After 37 years in Catholic Education, 11 of those spent at Saint David’s, Kathy has decided to retire at the end of Term 2. With six grandchildren Kathy will have plenty to occupy her, but more importantly she will have more time to spend with her husband Tony, who has been waiting three years for Kathy to join him in retirement.

Kathy’s role at Saint David’s will be hard to replace, and we will miss her incredible work ethic, commitment and friendship. She has developed strong relationships with many children and families, as well as colleagues over the last 11 years, so a fitting farewell will occur at the end of Term 2.

Enjoy the week
